Activities and Attractions Around Jaco Beach Costa Rica

The Central Pacific region offers endless opportunities for vacationers to experience Costa Rica at its best. Gorgeous sunsets, rugged rain forests, world-class sport fishing facilities, soft sandy beaches and waves that break high and low for surfers of all abilities. Located at the heart of the central Pacific region is the world famous resort town of Jaco, a magnet for sport fishermen, surfers, birdwatchers and anyone in search of a good time, from vacationing families and backpackers to wedding couples and honeymooners.

Near to Jaco are other major tourist attractions such as Carara National Park, Manuel Antonio, Hermosa Beach and the world renowned Los Suenos marina and golf course. The national parks in the central Pacific region are popular destinations for extreme sports athletes, wildlife enthusiasts as well as casual sightseers. For naturalists and birdwatchers especially, Costa Rica is well known worldwide as a haven of incredible bio-diversity and endemic wildlife. There are 24 Costa Rica national parks and more than 120 wildlife refuges in the central Pacific region, including biological reserves and marine parks.

Hiking, zip-lining, canopy tours, bird watching and turtle watching are among the activities that can be enjoyed within the national parks. Elsewhere, try horseback riding or jungle trekking that takes you to a waterfall where you can refresh in a natural swimming pool, experience the adrenalin rush in taking your first surfing lesson, enjoy a day on a picturesque golf course or out at sea with a sport fishing crew, snorkel or scuba dive and marvel at the colorful spectacles below sea level, kayak in the open ocean to take in the Pacific coastline or through a mangrove forest to learn about the flora and fauna in this unique habitat; see below for more things to do in Jaco.

If you have more time, be sure to include a visit to the volcanos; day trips can be arranged for visit to either Volcan Poaz or Volcan Arenal.

To truly experience the local ‘tico’ culture, do not miss Fridays’ market on the Boulevard Ancho (the very wide street coming from the highway); you'll find a colorful array of fresh fruits, vegetables, flowers and other delicious things to eat and drink.
